About the event

Interactive exercises exploring:

• underlying beliefs that could keep us from speaking up

• keeping our mouths shut then feeling crappy

• causing the other person pain by not communicating

• calling people in instead of calling them out

• truth without triggering trauma

There is an illusion that silence is always a peaceful response. It can be. And sometimes when we are afraid to speak and repress it that it feels like a violence towards ourselves. Then it still comes out eventually but in snarky, passive aggressive non-life serving ways. More harm ends up being created in the long run. Is there peace in your heart when something needs to be spoken and you decide to be silent?

We will work on sharpening our skills in self-empathy, interrupting conversations we are not enjoying, making difficult requests, and calling people in instead of calling them out.

We will use dyads, triads, group work, and role play to connect with our voice and speak in ways that are consistent with our values in order to create deeper connections with ourselves and others.
